This Privacy Policy explains how Text Assistant LLC, doing business as TextGuru ("TextGuru," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, shares, and keeps information when you use textguru.com and the TextGuru messaging service (together, the "Service"). The Service is offered only in the United States to people 18 or older. Our Terms of Use are at textguru.com/terms/.

At a glance
  • TextGuru works through supported messaging apps, currently iMessage. Your phone number is your account.
  • We keep your conversation and the things TextGuru remembers about you so it can help you over time.
  • Your messages are processed by AI providers under paid terms that do not allow them to train on your content.
  • We do not sell your information and do not use your conversations for advertising.
  • You can tell TextGuru to forget things, erase all of its memory with one command, or email us to delete your history or account.

This summary highlights key points. The complete Privacy Policy below control.

1. Information we collect

From your messages. Your phone number or messaging address, the messages you send and TextGuru's replies, and any photos, documents, or links you send. Photos and documents are read to answer you and are not kept as files; the link our messaging provider gives us for an attachment stays in the message record.

Things TextGuru remembers. Your name, city, and time zone if you share them; preferences about how you like answers; ongoing topics and commitments you talk about; and reminders and morning notes you set. Personal details about health, family, money, or your address are remembered only when you ask TextGuru to remember them in the same message.

Subscription records. Whether you are on a trial, subscribed, or paused; your customer and subscription identifiers from our payment processor; usage measured against your allowance; and top-up purchases. Our payment processor collects your card details and the email and billing address you enter at checkout. We do not receive your card number.

Contact details you give us. If you give us an email address, at checkout or by writing to us, we may use it for receipts, account and billing notices, and support.

Operational records. Delivery status from our messaging provider, records of what TextGuru looked up to answer you, the cost of each answer, and diagnostic records that help us find and fix problems.

Support. Anything you send to [email protected].

Website and checkout. When you visit textguru.com or the checkout page, we and our providers may collect your IP address, browser and device details, pages viewed, referral source, and cookie or similar identifiers. See Section 6.

Collection begins when you visit the website, start checkout, contact us, or send your first message to TextGuru. TextGuru never messages a number that has not messaged it first.

2. How we use information

  • To answer you: your message, recent history, and relevant memories are sent to our AI and information providers to produce a reply.
  • To remember: TextGuru builds memories from your one-on-one conversation so later answers fit you.
  • To send what you asked for: reminders, morning notes, and other messages you request.
  • To run your trial and subscription: counting trial messages, measuring usage, sending trial, usage, and billing notices, and issuing checkout, top-up, and cancellation links.
  • To keep the Service safe and working: preventing abuse, enforcing limits, diagnosing failures, and improving TextGuru.
  • To understand how people find and use the website, as described in Section 6.
  • To meet legal obligations and resolve disputes.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use your conversations or memories to build advertising audiences or to target ads.

3. AI processing

TextGuru is built on AI models from third-party providers. To answer you, we send your message, relevant recent history and memories, the current time in your time zone, and any photo or document you attached to one or more of those providers, and return the answer to you. We aim to send only what is needed for the request.

We use paid API arrangements under which providers do not use your content to train their models, and we turn off optional data-retention settings where a provider offers them. Providers may keep limited data for security, abuse prevention, and legal compliance under their own terms. We may add or change providers as the Service develops; this Policy applies to all of them.

Authorized TextGuru staff may review limited conversation content when needed for customer support, quality, safety, security, or legal reasons. Our internal testing uses made-up conversations, not yours.

4. Lookups, maps, and location

To answer some questions, TextGuru sends only what is needed to outside information services: a search query for web search or news, a place name for weather, a food or drug name for nutrition or medication facts, an amount and two currencies for a conversion, and the link itself when you ask TextGuru to read a page you sent. Those services process the request under their own terms and may return their own content or attribution.

When you ask for directions, drive times, or other place-based help, the places you name are sent to a mapping provider such as Google Maps, and the results are shown with the provider's attribution. Google Maps information is subject to Google's terms of service and privacy policy.

TextGuru does not collect your device's precise location. If we add a feature that uses your device's location, we will ask for your permission before turning it on.

5. Who else receives information

We share information with providers who help us run the Service, and only for that purpose:

  • Messaging delivery, which carries your messages and delivery status.
  • AI model providers, described in Section 3.
  • Information services, such as search, news, weather, mapping, sports, finance, nutrition, and health-reference services, described in Section 4.
  • Database and application hosting, which store and run the Service.
  • Payments. Stripe processes payments and holds your card details, billing address, and the email you enter at checkout, under Stripe's own privacy policy.
  • Email, support, security, and analytics tools that help us communicate with you, protect the Service, and understand how it is used.

We may also disclose information to advisers, regulators, courts, or law enforcement when the law requires or to protect rights and safety, and information may transfer as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale, subject to this Policy.

6. Cookies, analytics, and advertising measurement

textguru.com and our checkout pages may use cookies and similar technologies, including analytics tools and advertising measurement pixels, to understand how people find and use the website and whether our advertising works. These tools may receive page and checkout events, cookie or pixel identifiers, your IP address, and browser and device details.

Our website uses Google Analytics, provided by Google, to analyze website traffic and help us improve the site. We load it only after you accept optional cookies. You can decline these cookies or change your choice at any time through "Cookie settings" in the website footer. For more about how Google handles information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Our public website also uses the Meta Pixel, provided by Meta, to measure visits and how well our advertising works. We load it only after you accept optional analytics and advertising cookies. The pixel sends a PageView event when a page loads and a Contact event when you tap a Text Now button. It may share the page URL, which button you tapped, referral information, cookie identifiers, your IP address, and browser and device details with Meta. It does not receive your phone number or anything you text us. Meta may associate this information with your Facebook or Instagram account and use it under Meta's Privacy Policy. We do not load the pixel on our subscription or top-up checkout pages, and we do not supply customer contact details for advanced matching.

We do not send conversation content, memories, or anything derived from your conversations to analytics or advertising tools, and we do not build advertising audiences from your conversations.

Some state laws treat advertising pixels as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information even when no money changes hands. Where we use them, the website provides a way to opt out, and we honor browser-based Global Privacy Control signals as the law requires. You can also limit cookies in your browser settings.

7. Group chats

If someone adds TextGuru to a group conversation, TextGuru replies when addressed and everyone in the group sees its replies. Your private conversation stays private: TextGuru does not use your one-on-one memories in a group and does not create memories from group chats. We store group messages so TextGuru can follow the thread. If you send STOP in a group, TextGuru cancels reminders you set there. We cannot remove copies that other members already have.

8. Sensitive information

Please do not send passwords, one-time codes, card numbers, or Social Security numbers. TextGuru never asks for them. We do not scan or remove them from your messages, so anything you send is stored like any other message. Payment happens only on our payment processor's secure checkout page.

9. Memory and deletion controls

  • Forget something. Tell TextGuru to forget a topic or detail. It shows what it found and erases it after you confirm.
  • Forget everything. Ask TextGuru to forget everything about you. It explains what will be erased and asks you to reply exactly FORGET ALL MEMORY. Your facts, topics, preferences, and summaries are erased immediately. Your message history is kept until you request deletion.
  • Delete your history or account. Email [email protected] from the phone number or email you use with TextGuru and tell us what you want deleted. We confirm by text to your number and complete the deletion within 30 days. Deleting your account ends your subscription and reminders.

Deletion is subject to narrow exceptions: payment and tax records, records of the notices we sent you, and records needed for fraud prevention, disputes, or legal obligations. Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups until the normal backup cycle expires.

10. Retention

We keep your conversation and memories while your account is active so TextGuru can keep helping you. Reminder records are kept until the reminder fires or is canceled. Operational and diagnostic records, which can include short excerpts of what TextGuru looked up, are kept as long as needed to run and improve the Service. Subscription and payment records are kept as long as the law requires. Application logs kept by our hosting provider do not contain your messages.

11. Security

We protect information with access controls, provider security measures, encryption in transit and at rest with our database provider, and limited staff access. No system is perfectly secure. If a security incident affects you, we will investigate, contain it, and notify you and authorities as the law requires.

12. Your choices and rights

You can use the controls in Section 9 at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to opt out of targeted advertising, and to appeal a denied request. Email [email protected]. We honor reasonable requests from anyone regardless of state. We verify requests by confirming with your phone number or email, and we do not treat you differently for making one.

13. Children

TextGuru is not for anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has used it, email [email protected] and we will take appropriate steps.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service or the law changes. We will post the new version with a new effective date and, for material changes, tell you by text, email, or on textguru.com before they take effect. Prior versions are kept in our records.
